Volunteer Program Fees and Application Form

Why pay a fee for this type of work?

The fees for the programs cover : a payment to the families and the communities for receiving volunteers, a donation to schools for materials, a part of the staff costs at the hacienda, the upkeep of the facilities, transport and food.

A portion helps cover the costs of administration and office overheads and the remainder is used to help maintain the FBU and its development activities. In this way, every cent of the fee is put to good use to help the people of these communities.

The FBU is a non profit NGO.

The costs for 2008 are;

·2 day program - $60
·A week at the hacienda Picalquí (Monday to Saturday) - $75 (or $110 with all meals included)
·Month programs - $380 (additional months cost $330)
·Long term hacienda stay - $200 per month, minimum 2 months

All costs include lodging, 3 home cooked meals a day and transportation to the community of your choice. We also offer other choices of programs allowing the flexibility of volunteering for any number of weeks, incorporating a stay at the hacienda and/or in a community.

Payment should be made on arrival and due to banking costs we can only accept cash (US dollars).
